Send Text Messages

The permission required to view this page is "Send Text Messages".

Before you can send text messages, you need to register for an account with our 3rd party texting service. Click here and register for a free account. Then, once registered, log in and click the "Developers" link in the sidebar and do the following:

1. Click the "Create API Project" button at the bottom.
   

2. Enter a name, e.g. SCM.
   

3. Leave everything else and click the "Create" button at the bottom.
   

4. Click "Done" in the popup window.
   

5. Click the copy icon in the field showing your "Access Token" (it will just look like dots).
   

6. Go back to SCM and go to the "Setup > Club > Details" page on the "Extended Details" tab.
   

7. In the "SMS API Key" field paste (Ctrl + v) the copied access token and click the "Update" button at the bottom.
   

8. Go back to Webex and click on "Channel Setup > SMS".
   

9. In the "Senders" section, click the "Create sender" button.
   

10. Enter an abbreviated version of your club name and then click the update button.
    

11. Remember exactly what you entered in step 10 because you will need this when sending text messages from SCM.
    

Top add credits to your SMS account, when logged in to Webex Interact, click the "Add balance" button at the top in the header. You need to add credits before you can send text messages.

PLEASE NOTE: It can take a day or two for Webex to verify your account. You WILL NOT be able to send text messages via SCM until your account has been verified.

Once you have done the above steps go back to "Members > Text Messages > Send texts" page and you will see the form.

IMPORTANT: All member phone numbers must be saved in SCM in international format. For example, the mobile number 07786945278 should be entered +447786945278. Basically replace the leading zero with +44 (for UK).

Any member who does not have a mobile phone number added to their profile will not show on the list.

Select the individual members, the groups or the sessions you want to text and enter your message. Click on the "Send Text" button to send it.

The 3rd party service may place your first bulk text message on hold for manual review. This is to check for spammers and unfortunately we don't have any control over this.
